Student FAQs
What is the Riverpitch Challenge about?
Riverpitch is your chance to become a ‘Riverpreneur’! You’ll choose a river in Queensland, identify a problem it’s facing, and pitch an innovative solution—Shark Tank style. Think science meets creativity meets impact.
Who can participate?
High school students aged 15–18 from across Queensland. You can work solo or in a team, and we encourage you to nominate a mentor (like a teacher or community leader) to support you.
What’s a Riverpreneur?
It’s someone who uses entrepreneurial thinking to find sustainable solutions for rivers. If you care about rivers and love thinking outside the box, you’re already on your way!

How can my school get involved?
Please fill out the Expression of Interest (EOI) Form to access the Innovation Learning Guide. We encourage you to integrate Riverpitch into science, geography, or STEM programs or as an extracurricular activity.
What is my role as a Mentor?
Mentors guide and encourage students through their Riverpitch project. This could include helping them with research, project structure, science communication, and presentation skills.
How much time should we allocate for the project?
Students should ideally have 8-9 weeks to research, plan, and create their pitch. Flexibility is built in – this can happen in class, as a club project, or at home.
