Mayor Chris Cherry
MAYOR OF TWEED SHIRE COUNCIL
Mayor Chris Cherry is a trained biophysicist who has committed to representing the varied interests of the Tweed community since 2016. Cherry served 3 years as Tweed Shire Councils’ Deputy Mayor from 2016 and was elected Mayor in 2020, a position she has held since. As an independent, she remains perpetually cognisant of our role as environmental and world heritage custodians. Having worked in plant membrane research into salinity in Adelaide University and UNSW, Mayor Cherry is known for her expertise and dedication to community led and science-backed solutions.
