Our vision is to accelerate the world’s transition to healthy and resilient rivers for future generations. We aim to inspire the implementation of practical solutions and amplify the impact of investing in river resilience for the benefit of ecosystems and communities.

Governance Structure 

Our governance structure ensures effective oversight and strategic direction. The Board of Directors meets regularly throughout the year minimum six times) to discuss and make decisions on key issues affecting the organisation. The board is supported by various committees that focus on specific areas such as finance, governance, and strategic planning.

  1. Empower Individuals: To empower and support individuals to make a positive contribution to the world’s river basins. 

Community Engagement 

The International River Foundation is deeply committed to engaging with communities to foster a collective effort in river conservation. Our community engagement initiatives include: 

  • Educational Programs: We conduct workshops, seminars, and educational campaigns to raise awareness about river health and sustainable practices. 
  • Volunteer Opportunities: We offer various volunteer programs that allow individuals to actively participate in river restoration and conservation projects.

The International River Foundation is involved in numerous international projects aimed at promoting sustainable river management practices globally. Some of our key international projects have included: 

  • Twinning Program: This program pairs river basins from different parts of the world to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in river management. 
  • River Prize Awards: We recognize and reward outstanding achievements in river restoration and management through our prestigious River Prize awards. 
  • Resilient Rivers Blueprint: This initiative provides a framework for building resilience in river basins, focusing on sustainable management practices and community engagement. 
  • Global River Academy: We offer training and capacity-building programs to equip individuals and organisations with the skills and knowledge needed for effective river management.
