2nd International River Symposium
The 1999 International River Symposium brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss ways to protect and enhance the value of rivers around the world. The symposium aimed to recognise rivers as a precious resource, deserving of respect and protection for the benefit of both present and future generations.
The 1999 symposium also highlighted the importance of community involvement in river management. It focused on the need for inclusive strategies that engaged local communities, scientists, and policymakers to work together to ensure the sustainability of river systems. The discussions set the stage for future symposia to explore deeper, more complex issues of river management.
