20th International River Symposium
The 2017 International River Symposium, held in Brisbane, centred on the theme “Environmental Flows,” focusing on the importance of maintaining natural flow regimes to support river ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. The symposium explored the science and policy of environmental flows, showcasing innovative approaches to implementing flow regimes worldwide.
Participants shared case studies of successful environmental flow projects, highlighting the ecological and social benefits of these initiatives. The symposium underscored the need for cross-sector collaboration to ensure that water allocations consider both human and environmental needs.
