10th International River Symposium
The 2007 Internayional River Symposium, held in Brisbane, marked the 10th anniversary of the symposium and featured a focus on “Environmental Flows.” This theme addressed the crucial role of environmental flows in maintaining the ecological health of rivers. The event brought together river management experts, ecologists, and policymakers to discuss the science of environmental flows and how they can be integrated into river management practices worldwide.
The symposium also marked a milestone in the evolution of the IRS, showcasing the progress made in river management and environmental restoration over the past decade. It provided a platform for sharing case studies and experiences from around the world, demonstrating the positive outcomes of incorporating environmental flow considerations into river policy and management strategies. The 10th IRS emphasised the importance of balancing human water needs with the requirements of healthy river ecosystems.
