Peter is the President of Trillium Environmental Consulting Inc. and the immediate Past Chair of Conservation Ontario, the umbrella organisation representing Ontario's 36 Conservation Authorities.  Peter is also the immediate Past Chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority, an environmental agency in South-Western Ontario, Canada and recipient of the 2000 International Thiess Riverprize.  Peter was also a founding Board member of the Clean Water Centre of Excellence in Walkerton, Ontario Canada.  Peter has served on several provincial panels created in recent years to provide the Ontario government with advice on the framework for developing source protection planning and safe drinking water, now legislated as "The Clean Water Act".

Peter is currently a director on the board of rare (rare preserves naturalized property for research and education in an urban area) and the Haldimand-Norfolk Literacy Council in Simcoe, Ontario.

Peter has been closely associated with International Riverfoundation as a board director for many years and has recently acceptied the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Dr Natalie Baker, Partnerships Manager

natalie_bakerNatalie joined the Riverfoundation as Partnerships Manager in 2008. She has a research background in aquatic sciences and completed a PhD on the population genetics of an Australian freshwater crayfish. Natalie has experience in natural resource management and river restoration in the Queensland Murray Darling Basin.

Natalie volunteered in Nairobi for the Tweed-Kenya Mentoring Program in 2006, assisting the Desk Coordinator with integrating social and environmental outcomes of improving river health, sanitation and water access in informal settlements.

Natalie is now responsible for coordinating the Riverprize and assisting the Riverprize winners in their twinning endeavors.

Hadassah McQuade, Accounts & Administration Officer

Hadassah joined the RiverFoundation in July 2010. With a degree in business, she attained a major in Accounting and minor in Tourism and has taken a passion for life, people and travel into the not-for-profit sector. Having worked a number of years within an animal welfare organisation, Hadassah feels fortunate to have assisted a team which advocated for marine conservation and an end to animal cruelty. She has wandered the world extensively and embraces the Credo of the Peaceful Traveller including the principal to “revere and protect the natural environment which sustains all life”. Hadassah brings to RiverFoundation her sense of personal responsibility, integrity and commitment to help change our world for the better and aspires to assist in the mission to restore, protect and cultivate sustainable management of the world’s river systems and our most precious resource: water.

Michelle Tyhuis, Communications & Marketing Manager

Michelle joined the Riverfoundation in late February 2010.  She is a qualified journalist and broadcaster and has much experience in the not-for-profit sector.  Michelle's passions are in traditional Indigenous land and sea management ('caring for country'), Australian Indigenous culture and heritage and creative writing, art and design.

Andy Sibley, Communications & Events Manager

Andy joined the Riverfoundation team in April 2010. Andy's background is in design and communications spanning over 12 years. He is an environmental science graduate (2004) majoring in coastal resource management and has worked in environmental communications for the last 4 years.

Andy's passion for the environment and talent as a multidisciplinary designer has given him the skillset to develop programs and campaigns to highlight and strengthen work carried out by nature conservation groups. He has worked freelance, as well as with not-for-profit organisations and government agencies in this position and is eager to help strengthen RiverFoundations's role as world leaders in river conservation management.  

Andy is a keen waterman and is also actively involved in marine conservation efforts, having recently travelled to Chile, Portugal, Medeira and the Azores on conservation and awareness campaigns with surfing activists, S4C.
